Rhode Island, “the biggest little state in the Union,” is rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Rhode Island's resources include some of the finest opportunities for swimming, fishing and sailing on the east coast.

Rhode Island is located 50 minutes from Boston and 31/2 hours from New York City. The Providence area is also convenient to the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont as well as the ocean beaches of Rhode Island and Cape Cod.

In addition to the many cultural offerings of Brown University, the state is also home to the Rhode Island School of Design, the Trinity Square Repertory Company and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, which are all nationally acclaimed fine arts institutions.

Activities on the campus of Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, Rhode Island College, Providence College and the University of Rhode Island all enhance the intellectual and cultural life of the community and to provide an extensive calendar of events throughout the year.
